Invisalign

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment is ideal for patients undergoing orthodontic care. Invisalign uses a system of clear braces to help realign and straighten teeth. It’s most suitable for teens and adults who can commit to wearing their aligner trays for about 22 hours every day. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign can be removed when eating or brushing your teeth.

Why is Invisalign needed?

Invisalign is an option to consider if you have orthodontic problems. Your teeth may be crooked, crowded, or misaligned, or you may have an under or overbite. Invisalign is ideal for patients of all ages, and can be just as beneficial for adults as it is for children. In fact, it’s not uncommon for adults who have previously undergone orthodontic treatment in the past to benefit from Invisalign because their teeth have begun to shift.

Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?

Most individuals who want Invisalign as their go-to orthodontic treatment can safely and easily benefit from this option. Dr. Ghosh will perform an examination and take special x-ray images to decipher if Invisalign is right for you and if it’ll work to help correct your smile. It is important that patients have the ability to commit to wearing their aligner trays so that treatment is effective. Smaller children and young teens who don’t replace their aligners after removing them may not be good candidates for Invisalign.

What happens during treatment using Invisalign?

The first step is to have a consultation with Dr. Ghosh. Together, we can create a treatment plan that is specific to your needs. Our goal is to provide you with comprehensive care while improving the look and feel of your smile. You will then have impressions taken of your teeth that will be used to create your first set of aligners. You will need to come in for regular appointments to have more impressions and new trays made. Treatment can vary from being just six months long to about two or three years depending on your orthodontic needs.
